Legion's Poem Corner Empty
PostSubject: Legion's Poem Corner   Legion's Poem Corner EmptyMon Apr 21, 2014 6:45 pm

This is my first one for you all to view and enjoy. I wrote it because my dad's birthday was not to long ago, and he was in the army. People say I did a great job on it because I play with emotions, and you can also have an image of what is happening. This is the poem I entered in the writing contest. Please note that this poem is mine if you wish to use it please give credit. Anywho here it is:

Listen to the Soldiers

Listen to the soldiers, my child, doing their workout chants my father told me
Listen to how they sound in unison as they march as far as your eye can see
They are strong, brave, and protect their cities and towns
By shooting their guns to show none are weak
and always when they are far away they think of us and seek, home

Listen to the soldiers, honey, as you hear the shuffle of uniforms and the breaking of hearts beneath human skin
Remember how I used to whisper I love you like them
It gave me the strength to fight.
We know the price of sending fright,
into our enemies, he said to us in a low tone
Tears had shown on my cheeks now
as a carefully remembered his tale of the soldier and the usual coming home vow

When he disappeared on that plane
truly I knew why he was fighting and it was not in vain
Even though his voice is far from my ears
Being a soldier's daughter makes me fight my fears
to lean for what is right
to be myself
while listening for those soldiers
